Mission

"The purpose of Menogyn is to provide transformational experiences in a wilderness setting, emphasizing quality, personal growth and relationships."

History

Menogyn was founded on the Eastern end of West Bearskin lake in 1922 by O.R. Tripp.  In the late 1940s, it moved 2 1/2 miles down the lake to its current location, and became a coed camp in the 1950s.  Its focus has always been wilderness tripping.

Location

There are no roads to Menogyn, access is only by canoe or boat, and is roughly 1/2 mile from the parking lot.  This unique location places us literally on the edge of the wilderness - we are surrounded by federal land - and provides direct access to the Boundary Waters Canoe Area.  Many of our canoeing groups paddle in and out of camp.

Staff

Our counselors and staff are passionate about the outdoors and possess exceptional wilderness skills and safety awareness.  These special people love working with kids and are eager to share their knowledge with our campers.  Many staff return annually, and are trained in Wilderness First Responder and Wilderness Water Safety.  All of our staff have completed our intensive training and are dedicated to supporting campers' personal growth by helping them build confidence, self-respect and new friendships.
